K36
Project now complete
11/05/2002

Following a complete rebuild from bottom up this project is now complete. The K36 engine no 484 was acquired as a commercially finished loco. Ha Ha.
This engine sadly was in no way fit for purpose and the quality engineering build was outrageously poor. At time of purchase these facts were known although not to condition we actually found on further investigation.
The rebuild has taken just over a year and has involved re-engineering virtually every part of the loco. For example the frames had 12mm difference in the width from end to end.
This engine is absolutely fantastic now in every detail and is a credit to the team who have brought this sad example of engineering into what is a premier league loco.
Brett Roger's said " He was absolutely over the moon with the engine and is looking forward running the engine over the coming season".
Update - The K36 is now running well. Minor modifications were made to the pony truck in order to overcome a problem with the truck lifting off the track this is cured and the K36 is delivering a successful passenger service at its resident railway.
