UI When I started Writing these Web Pages I was faced with a bit of a Dilemma;

How on Earth, in 'Space' or elsewhere, do I organize it so that it will make some sort of sense to those visiting? I drew up Lists, Categories, Headings & Groupings. I think I've just got it 'Sorted' when I remember some other Film or Programme, etc.

So this List, I've tried to Limited the Number of Titles in each Group - I may still have to Alter them, the Pages do seem a bit Long. So, after Considerable Thought I was left with with a few 'Loose Ends'.

I couldn't quite place them into the other Categories. This is when I hit upon the Idea of Unique Individuals & the following Page, Unique Situations (see Link below). This allowed me to Lump the Ambiguous & Unusual (if such a term can really apply to this Genre).

Some of you may feel that certain Titles could belong elsewhere - I have at times - yet when I try others then become 'Displaced' in D - space. If any of you has a few Days spare & would like to Devise a Better List, be my Guest & send it to me by Email.

Bear in Mind that I have a few others that have not even been mentioned yet that are awaiting in a 'Tributary Wormhole' desperately trying to make through the Turbulence - "Inertial Dampers are at 60% & Falling!"

TP The Tomorrow People is still my All - Time Favourite Children's Drama. I can recall being glued to the edge of a chair for each Episode.

The Story Line is Primarily around a group of Children with ESP & their Adventures. I spent a reasonable amount of time trying to Perform Acts of Telekinesis all to No avail. It was most disappointing.

The Scene I Remember most readily is one in which the 'Gang' were being 'Tested' by some Unscrupulous 'Grown Ups' who's Aim was to Exploit Their 'Talents' for Personal Gain & Power. Boo !

It was done with the use of Dice. One of the Tomorrow People was Captive & being Forced to call the Right Result. The Results were Disappointing & He was taken back to his Confinement. Then one of the 'Bad Guys' turned to the other and stated that the Results were 'Faked' and the Game was up. I nearly Screamed!

Hey, what can I say? I was Young & Impressionable (if you can believe that :-)

There was a New Version made Recently, I only got to see One Episode - it just wasn't the same. Remakes are not always Improved by New Effects. Sometimes it is just a case of, 'it worked at the Time'.

atls Another show that 'Worked at the Time' was The Man From Atlantis. Let's not Dwell on the Infantile Comments about the way Patrick Duffy swam & its likeness to a Sexual Techniques (it is a very efficient technique which just happens to be helpful in other areas ;-)

I don't Remember all that much about the 'Plot' or even who else was in it, although I must have watched every Episode. Yes I admit it - all I can Remember is the 'Swimming' bit & that he had Webbed Hands & Feet. Make of that what you will ;-)

Next to these Recollections is the fact that I watched Dallas because He was in it. I ended up being Disappointed that there was nothing Amazing going on, except for the Outrageously Awful Acting, of course!

I will have to find some Episodes & Reacquaint myself with this 'Gem' of Television 'History'.

inv This bit is more to do with David McCallum's Series of The Invisible Man than the old Black & White Movies.

I have Liked a lot of McCallum's stuff over the Years. The Man from Uncle, Sapphire & Steel (see below) &, later, VR5.

He's managed to appear in more Sci - Fi & Fantasy stuff than almost any other Individual I can think of (if anyone can name Another I would be Interested in Knowing & Impressed, use the Email Link below).

The Latest Version of this Idea is the Vanishing Man with Neil Morrissey. I don't think it Captures the Atmosphere of the Invisible Man and has only made slight Improvements in Special Effects.

In all fairness neither has really exceeded the Original Films in that Department.

S&S Sapphire & Steel has to be in my 'Top Ten' of 'Weird & Bizarre' Programmes.

I am still not Entirely sure that I Understand them even now. The main Lure for me was Joanna Lumley (of the New Avengers - another All - Time Fave of Mine &, years later, Absolutely Fabulous) &, naturally, David McCallum (see the Invisible Man above for more).

The Title refers to the Characters being some Manifestations, if you will, of those Basic 'Elements' which Control the Dimensions - "Trans - Uranic Heavy Elements cannot be used where there is Life". Thus the jobs fall to the 'Medium Atomic Weight's of Sapphire & Steel.

Sapphire (Lumley) had some 'Power' over Time whilst Steel was the more Experienced. His Mind was more Resistant to the 'Influence' of Other's Power. Their 'Mission' was to Track Down & Deal with Strange Occurrences, Ghosts & other Oddities.

A Couple of other 'Elements' were seen on occasion, Lead & Silver, apparently there are around 127 in Total, although Steel States that it's only 115 can be as, "We can Never Trust the Trans - Uranics. They're Unstable".

The Programmes certainly 'Oozed' an atmosphere of Mystery & Suspense, even if I didn't Comprehend the Plot at the Time. The Strangest One, as I Recall it, was set in a Railway Station (Second Series).

There are too many Complexities in the Story Line for me to go into a lot of Detail - I will Probably need to watch Them again to get some clearer Ideas on the Plot. I will Update this Page at some point when I get the Chance.

hlndr Whilst I'm on the Subject of Strange Story Lines, can anyone Explain, in a Comprehensible Fashion, the Ideas Behind Highlander 2 & 3.

The Original Highlander was Excellent, particularly Sean Connery (also put in an surprisingly good Performance in Zardoz) - the only thing that needed 'Overlooking' was Christopher Lambert's 'Accent'.

I have watched the 2nd Movie a number of Times & all I see is '?????' Marks.

The 3rd seemed to make some Sense, even though it was nowhere near as good as the First.

I must admit that I've lost Interest the Series, with Adrian Paul recently. There must be a 'Natural Limit' on the Number of Immortal Story Lines that can be done. Considering that the Gathering is approaching.

I also found that the 'Existence' of a 'Secret Immortal Monitoring Organization' could remain Hidden from those that may have had Hundreds of Years Experience at Surveillance & Espionage.

As we all know Connor MacLeod (Lambert) Ultimately becomes the Sole Survivor - "There can be Only One" - so will we get to see which 'Immortal' Finally gets the Better of Duncan MacLeod (Paul).

Just a little bit Morbid Curiosity from a mere Mortal ;-)

theV Finally in this Section come The Visitor. As he was Technically Human & not from 'Outer Space' (at least not Initially) I ended up putting this Series in here.

ITV only showed a few Episodes & then it Disappeared from Our Terrestrial Screens & wasn't seen for quite some time. It has now Reappeared (a bit like The Visitor Himself) & they have finally started Screening Episodes that I haven't seen (SEP 00). The Difficulty is that they show it at any time from 1 till nearly 3 on a Wednesday Morning - a fair bit different from the old Saturday at 3 pm slot.

Initially I thought it was 'Hinting' at the Possibility that He was from the Future & His 'Mission' was to Correct 'Things' or Enable Other 'Things' to Happen. Apparently, The Visitor has Escaped, after around 40 years (still looking the same Age - it's all right for some, eh?), from an Alien Off - World Colony & is using some sort of Highly Developed Mathematics which has Predicted that the Human Species is Doomed (not again ;-)

The Visitor is now trying to Change things to Improve the Chances for Humanity by making Adjustments to Events. This is a similar Idea that Asimov used in His Foundation Books (for more click Here).

Obviously the Aliens are not too happy, they think the Human Race should be left to its own Devices - except all those Abductees, of course. So with the ever present threat of the Aliens, being chased by an Obsessed Military Officer & the FBI, things are not looking too good. The only thing that is in his Favour is that he has some Enhanced Abilities. A kind of Pay - Off for all the other stuff the Aliens did to him.

So the Story - Line is starting to get Interesting & it has its own particular slant which, at least for a TV Series, hasn't been done too many times - at least to my knowledge - if you know any different, you can let me know using the Email Link below.
