Modem: Pace 56 K Voice / Internal

Note: Pace are NO longer Trading or Supporting Modems.

Upgraded to V.90 Standard.

Still haven't managed an Initial Connection Speed Faster than 49333 kps - BT Line.

Very good Upgrade Wizard - checks to see if your ISP (Internet Service Provider) is V.90 (Industry Standard - 99) Compliant & then Upgrades - also creates it's own BackUp in case of problems (none so far) - well done, a nice touch!

I have a copy of the Upgrade Program if you need it.

Printer: HP (Hewlett Packard) 820 Cxi DeskJet (discontinued) Came with Version 8.2 Upgraded to Version 8.5

No complaints so far.

Upgrade fixes a few Bugs (problems) - not sure what they were in the first place though.

Align & Self - Test Functions worked well, once I got the hang of them.

Scanner: Microtek ScanMaker 3600 Uses USB port & the literature states it needs Windows 98 to Run.

Through a lot of Research, Trial & Error & a small amount of Luck I have managed to get it working in Windows 95 (Rev B).

Done by Adding the Standard PCI to USB Host Controller & Root Hub Drivers, will show up when done in System Devices.

Still to bit early to put too many comments about how well it works, only bought in SEP 00. Initial Results looks promising & the different bits & bobs will be checked in time. Very quick Preview, around 10 seconds, although Scanning takes about 1 minute.

Haven't loaded all of the Software Bundle yet, comes with;

  • Adobe Photo Deluxe
  • Caere OmniPage - Limited Edition, I did not like this.
  • Caere PageKeeper Standard
  • Adobe Acrobat 4
  • Recognita Standard OCR
  • Ulead Photo Impact 5
  • Scanner: UMAX Astra 1220P Users Printer's Parallel Port - Scanner has a Port for connecting the Printer (see above).

    The Printer needed the Scanner Switched on for it to Work. Not a Problem these days as the Scanner I have now Runs through the USB Port (see above).

    Seems to be working fine, some reasonable early results (SEP 99). It comes with Vista, Version 3.1 which has with some Basic Pre - set Options.

    The Advanced Scanning has a Preview Option, which gives lots of choices before the Actual Scan takes places although they are not all that Obvious if you've never used a Scanner before.

    Comes with this Software Bundle;

  • Presto! PageManager ('Inbox' problem), ImageFolio & Photo Album
  • Abode Photo Deluxe
  • Caere OmniPage - Limited Edition
  • HP ScanJet 4400c

    Joystick: Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro Version 2 Problems with the Fire Button as it was dropped upside down on the floor - oops! (Well so much for Durability Testing then ;-) The Profile Editor for setting up Custom Profiles was easy to use & works very well.

    The Microsoft Web Site has a Selection of Profiles although it's proved to be less than useful so far with the Games I have (to find out more on them Click Here).

    ASUS iPanel??? or with ASUS Board Info
    Modular Technology's Galaxy TV Tuner Card Remote bought separately (this is contrary to what their Web Site seems to say???)

    NOT NICAM - a shame that! Still fairly good value for money despite these setbacks.

    Sound comes through its Slot & doesn't need to connect Externally via the Line - In Socket.

    Comes with Teletext Explorer. A very good way of using Teletext which downloads All Sub Pages & Operates like a Web Page. Normal Teletext doesn't seem to work in Full Screen Mode.

    Automatic Widescreen Selection would be nice for the next Version!
