The Heart of the system

LX 440 AGP Main Board: SuperMicro P6SLA Rev. 3.01 Failed & Replaced / BIOS Problems. Supports USB Connection - not with pre -  Windows 95 (Revision B)
Intel Pentium II / 333 MHz Processor Chip Can only Upgrade to a 350, anything Faster needs a NEW Main Board Installed :-(
Micron 384 MB SD (Synchronous Dynamic) RAM Maximum amount for the Main Board (see above). 128 seems to be the Standard, not for long though I imagine.

3½" (inch) Floppy Disc Drive Works well except that Windows seems to like to Check out what's there, even when it hasn't been asked to (?)
Floppy Disc Drive: Maxell LS 120 (MB) / External Uses Printer's Parallel Port - has an adapter so that both remain connected;

Do NOT use the LS120 & Printer (or Scanner?) at the same time!

The LS120 also handles the Standard 3½, 1.4 MB Discs. Comes with DoubleZip Compression for Creating BackUps, up to 240 MB per Disc, slightly Higher Compression than the Standard Windows Backup Program.

Rob (brother) tried to Install the Drive Internally - unfortunately the Power Connector that the LS120 used was a '4 by 1' rectangular plug whereas the Computer's is a '2 by 2' square plugs.

Western Digital Caviar 4.3 GB / AC14300 Replaced Fujitsu Hard Drive (below). Seems to be working fine, Second Birthday MAR 01 (fingers still crossed! :-)
Fujitsu / 4.3 GB Hard Disc Drive Crashed completely within the first year (Click Here for more). Replaced with a New Drive (see above).

ROM (Read - Only Memory) Drive: Creative Labs PC - DVD Encore Drx2 Each Disc's can Store up to 17 GB's of Information. Can also read CD ROM's.

Had some Screen Configuration Problems which I never managed to sort out.

A Newer Version of the DVD Software was Installed with the Second Hard Drive.

No Problems with the newer Version as yet - 'Remote Control' Layout a little different.

Apparently it can Operate Several ROM Drives & select one as a Default. Although it will be some time before I can Test this out (see below).

I had to Disable the New Disc Detector, Version 1.51, as it kept going into Setup Mode & trying to Run Install every time a Disc was put into the Drive, even if the Program was already Installed.

MPEG 2 (Motion Picture Experts Group) Decoder Card Came with DVD Drive (see above). Decoder Board comes with Built - In Dolby (Ac - 3) Surround Sound.

Only needs a 5 - Speaker Connection Box to Work.

Graphics Card: ATI Xpert@Work / 4 MB AGP Driver: 4.10.2237 Even though it is definitely showing signs of slowing down with some of the newer games.

For details on Driver Upgrade, see below.

Not all Screen Refresh Rates, suggested for the Monitor were available.

The 32 - bit Resolution only goes up to 1152 by 864 pixels whereas Lower Colours go up to 1280 by 1024. Beyond 1024 by 768 pixels Screen Quality is shaky.

There has been a problem with the Display Properties where the Adjustment, Colour & Panning Tabs have be Replicated, e.g. 2 of each. This causes a Control Panel Error Message to appear if both Tabs are used. Although it doesn't appear to be causing any actual Running Problems.

ATI Support Staff said that this is a 'Known Problem' & Recommend using a Driver Upgrade (see below) which has created its own Problems.

Graphics Card: The Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2x Upgrade Driver: 4.11.2560

(Requires DirectX 6 or higher)

Upgrade introduced other Screen Resolution Sizes - 720 by 480 - not able to make it fit the whole Monitor Screen & suffers from a lot of Screen Flicker.

Eventually removed as it caused some Mouse Disappearance & Game Graphics Problems.

When playing Sim City 3000 (SC3K) the Colours seem easier to Distinguish, previously they seem 'Dark'. I don't know if this due to the New Driver, or not, as I hadn't Played SC3K for a while though I sure notice the difference now :-)

It also caused serious problems with the Art Attack & Lego Creator.
