What Next?
| Hard Disc Drive |
At present I've got 2 x 60 GB Drives
(Total 120 GB) and thought this would
be enough for some time - however the amount of music I stored will
mean that I will have to look at something bigger fairly soon! |
| RAM (Random Access Memory) |
I have a full 1 GB (2
x 516 MB) which involved upgrading
to W2K as W98 has a ceiling of around 800 MB
(see OS for more) So this is about
it for some time as my Board can only
handle that much. |
| DVD ROM Drive |
At Present they have around a 5 GB Memory
Capacity per Disc. I am still waiting for the various standards to
resolve themselves (DVD RAM seems to offer the best usability
option though it is not as interchangable as the other Formats and
most suppliers seem to be going for +RW or -RW) |
| Graphics Card |
3D (Dimensional, that is) Cards with up to 32 MB
of onboard (built in) RAM to make those
Games even Smoother Looking. |
| Printer/Scanner |
Mine is looking a bit out-of-date though it still works fine so
and the Scanner is relatively new so the all-singing & dancing
one will have to wait! |
| Sound Card |
I tried using a Card that had an External Box (with
Jack Plug & MIDI Inputs for my Bass
Guitar & other Instruments) - unfortunately there's
no W2K Drivers/Updates available so had to remove it (see RAM
- above).

| Speakers |
As of JAN 06 I have a 2.1 System which is very nice, at
some point I might want to get that 'Cinema' Surround
Sound a 5.1 (7.1 !?!) System though, space permitting,
I would be inclined to add it to the TV rather than the PC>

| Monitor |
I have a 17inch Widescreen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) Monitor
with a built-in TV Tuner (Digital 'Freeview' Decoder would have been
nice) so no plans to move on just yet. |
