It wasn't on for a few of those years, '91, '96 & now '01, if it had been I probably would still have been there. In the case to 2001 I was adamant I was going to give it a miss, although I have said this before & have still ended up going. Why? It is only fair for each of us to answer that for ourselves. Liana didn't have a lot of choice earlier on & her views will hopefully reflect that her Parents made a reasonable choice.
Over the years we have Camped with various people, in a variety of tents & fields. Along the way we have encountered a diverse group of people who have added to the overall Experience that is the Glastonbury Festival.
As in all things, change happens, people move on, others take their place & some things remain the same. Glastonbury has, to some extent, kept up with the Times. The Musicians, Artist, Circus & Theatre Performers have consistently been Refreshing, New or Innovative. Which is probably why we repeatedly endure the Infamous Toilets, Long Walks & 100 000 other People just to be there.
It has also held onto the most Important Part - an Atmosphere that is unlike anything Experienced Elsewhere. Where else can you spend all day, & all night if you want to, without running out of things to do or watch.
Those People who make the effort, no matter how big or small, to entertain the crowds seem to bring the best out in most of us, or maybe we just need 'permission', who knows? The fact is that even when you energy starts to flag & your legs are getting tired, just around the corner the is a new or familiar event happening to give you a boost.
