We, my daughter, Liana, Fin, her mum & myself, went
'soft' again this year and took a caravan, etc. Tom (my Father) was with
us for the first time without his old van - it won't be the same looking
at the
Photo's without it in the shots.
After a quick manoeuvre to avoid being put in a caravan 'lot' and as we were setting up the weirdest thing 'happen'. A van parked next to us out got Huggy & Sally. The strangest part was they didn't know it was us when they parked. They arrived about half an hour later and pulled a similar manoeuvre to us in a bid to find a decent space. With us this Year was Jayne & her friend Louise, we are not allowed to write exactly what they got up to, you'll just have to use your imagination, and then add some. We had regular visits from Laura & co. friends of Louise. Geeta & her son, Girick, 7, (who were to meet up with Jayne turned out to have been the same People we'd been to Glastonbury with several years earlier - small Festival!) with them was Ian Geeta's Step-son. I had Hayfever for the first few days, mainly due to the Dust. Got around a lot more & able to sit on the ground, so mustn't grumble. |

We also spent some time up in the Greenfields, the Field of Avalon & with the Stone Circle (enjoying the sunshine) & the Stone Dragon. The Creatures, Siouxsie Sioux (Vocals - a bit weak) & Budgie on drums - very electronic sound, although they had TWO BASS GUITARS! What more could I ask for? (for my Bass Playing exploits Click Here) I saw Kula Shaker, instead of R.E.M. (got stick at work for that). Kula were OK although their stuff was starting to sound a bit 'samey'. |

Took in a lot of the Outside Entertainment. The best for me was a Marionette Show called Hollywoodstock. The One - Man - Show had Artists like, Tina Turner, Jimi Hendrix & others Performing to some of their Hits. A must if you ever come across it in the Future. Monday provided absolutely no 'entertainment' at all as the exits & surrounding roads we blocked for hours & hours. When we got to the A37 we were only allowed to to the right. This meant we decided to come home using the A303 route. Not something to recommend after 10 in the evening (it took us 4 hours to get 'off site'). By the time we arrived home, at 1 in the morning, we had visited 4 service stations (their definition); The first was an emergency toilet stop - we were also trying to let Huggy & Sally catch up as we had got separated by the traffic flow. We never did see them. Anyway, we didn't stop for long - unfortunately this proved to be a mistake. The next one was virtually closed and all we could get was drinks, a helpful woman working there did manage to find some chips my daughter - a few points regained, & lost again as the Petrol Station was closed. The following 2 were completely closed, including one on the M3. I was informed that the usual closing times are 11 pm, this was not at all useful, get it sorted people! I will add that the reason we got home at 1 am was that I left the Front Door Keys in the Caravan and had to go back for them. Fortunately it's not far. |
