Club
Nights at Esporta Dorset
There
are currently three club nights, all of which are for members only.
All
club nights are from 8pm - 10pm, and there are 4 courts available (except on
Friday match nights, when only 2 courts are free). No advance booking is
necessary, simply turn up and pay your 50p contribution towards the feather
shuttles. A board system is in use to ensure that every one gets a fair number
of games.
Monday
night is for beginners and improvers, and the more experienced members help to organise games and offer
advice. They are looking to build up the numbers, so please come along and try
out the game!
Tuesday
night is for improvers and club players, and this night is always very
popular. Players are expected to have a reasonable range of
shots.
Friday
night is for club standard players to have team practice.
All the nights are very sociable between games and the
evenings are usually rounded
off with a dip in the pool and a drink and a chat in the bar.
A certain number of social events and tournaments take place
throughout the year and these are posted on the notice board at courtside. This notice board also carries details of all other
activities including team details, match results, and coaching schedules.

Forum News
The
next meeting is on Wed 26th September.
The
June 2001 meeting did not happen due to availability of forum members. In the
meantime I had a meeting with the new General Manager, Paige Williams, to discuss
the following issues.
Benches
- 2 are not enough for busy club nights. Extra seating was promised at the
previous meeting.
Clock
- not working for several months
- now fixed
Courts
- the lines need repainting or new tape applied. They are also getting worn,
so a plan for gradual replacement needs to be in place.
Matches
- last season junior tennis coaching sometimes took place at the same time
as a badminton match.
Standards
- sometimes club rules such as sports bags in the dining area and children
in the adult lounge are ignored by staff.
Showers
- generally looking worn.
Paige
will look at all of these issues - watch this space!
If
you have any comments you would like me to pass on, either email
me or see me at the Tuesday club night. Thanks, Steve Barker.
