Hallottam már olyan véleményeket
tribute albumokkal és zenekarokkal kapcsolatban, hogy
nem nagy ügy eljátszani mások
zenéjét. Elképzelheto, hogy vannak
esetek, amikor ez igaz, de garantáltan nagy
fába vágja fejszéjét az, aki Yes
nótákat próbál meg elnyomni,
méghozzá nem egyet, vagy kettot, hanem
mindjárt tucatnál is többet. Erre a
feladatra vállalkozott az angol Fragile,
lévén ok a szigetország egyik
legismertebb Yes tribute bandája. Szokatlan dolog egy
feldolgozásokat játszó
csapattól, hogy albumot jelentessen meg, ezért
a Fragile-nak is csak egyetlen ilyen korongja van,
méghozzá egy tavaly júniusi koncert
felvétele. Megdöbbentoen profi módon
játsszák el a Yes legsikeresebb
nótáit és ezért
mindegyikükrol csak felsofokon beszélhetek. Az
énekesnek Steve Carney-nak van talán a
legnehezebb dolga, mivel Jon Anderson témáit
elénekelni bizony nem akármilyen
próbatétel. Steve azonban sikerrel vette az
akadályt, csakúgy, mint a billentyus Gonzalo
Carreras, akinek Rick Wakeman állandóan
változó játékának
felidézése volt a feladata. A lemezen szereplo
öt teljes hosszúságú nóta
mellett található egy közel harminc
perces monstre egyveleg is, olyan dalok részleteivel,
mint a The Fish, Hearts, Ritual, Yours is No Disgrace, Long
Distance Runaround. Számomra a legkedvesebb az Owner
of a Lonely Heart, amely a többi nótával
ellentétben egy kicsit át lett formálva
a Fragile arculatára, így egy igazi
lassú szám vált belole. A lemez
érdekességei közé tartozik, hogy a
zenekar azért döntött az élo
felvétel mellett, mert túl
drágának találták a
stúdiózást. Amúgy a
felvétel minosége sokkal jobb lett, mint
jó néhány stúdióanyag. A
zenekarnak ebben a felállásban ez volt a
harmadik (!) koncertje. El nem tudom képzelni, mire
lettek volna képesek, ha már legalább
egy éve együtt vannak!

I Have heard opinions
before relating to tribute albums and music bands such as
:"it is no big thing to play other bands songs." Possibly,
there are some cases when this is true. But any band that
tries to play "YES" songs - not only one or two but more
than a dozen - has taken a huge challenge. An English band ,
called FRAGILE is trying to attempt to achieve this task.
They are the most well - known tribute band of "YES" songs.
It is uncommon from a
band who plays tribute songs to release an album. That's why
FRAGILE released only one record last June.
It is astonishing how
well they play the most successful numbers of "YES".They
deserve a really high accolade. The singer has the hardest
job to do because "ANDERSON lyrics" are very difficult to
sing. However Steve (from Fragile) does justice to the
challenge. Also Gonzalo Carreas (keyboards) whose job was to
emulate the always changing play of "Rick Wakeman".
On their record there
are 5 full - lenght songs and also nearly 30 minutes of
songs like 'The fish',' Hearts', 'Ritual' , 'Yours is no
disgrace' , and ' Long distance run around' . One of my
favorites is the ' Owner of a lonely heart ' which (compared
to the other songs) has been transformed by ' Fragile' style
becoming an original slow track. The other interesting
feature of the compilation is it has been recorded live in
concert instead of in the studio.
The quality of the
recording is better than other studio works. The band
performed 3 concerts with these artists. Imagine what this
particular line-up would have been able to achive if they
had been playing together longer.
