Shardlow Heritage Centre Photo Gallery The Heritage Centre:      Nottingham Trent University Language Students visit   Mountbatten waiting loading 5 August 2001   Loading the butty boat 5 August 2001   Butty boat loaded with bagged firewood   en route past the  Malt Shovel and New Inn 5 August 2001 Village Scenes:  Village Events:    Floods November 2000:  upstream of Shardlow Lock,  flood plain on the right unloading coal  across flooded towpath Soresby's warehouse  in flood     The above 2 views are from where the canal passes through the flood defences downstream of the canal port - this is the Trent flooding the canal downstream of the village. i.e. the flow at this time was from the Trent at Cavendish Bridge, across the fields to this point, across the canal and into the fields shown here that had already been flooded by the Derwent. These boats are moored bow-to the offside of the canal, the JCB being on the service road to the moorings. These 2 views can be related by reference to the two men and gate in middle distance.
