The Good News According to Matthew:
Chapter Six

6.3
Jesus said, "When you give money away, don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing."

6.9-13
He said: "Pray like this:

Our Father,
May your name be kept holy;
May everything be done your way here on earth;
Provide us every day with the food we need to live;
Release us from our debt to you
To the same extent we release those in debt to us.
And may we not be too severely tested;
but rescue us from the evil one.

6.19-21
Jesus said, "Don't amass material possessions in this life, because they will decay and be eaten away and thieves will break in and steal them. Build up spiritual wealth instead. It is safe from decay and can't be stolen. As the saying goes, 'Your heart's measure is what you treasure'".

6.24-30
Jesus also said: "Nobody can work under two bosses. He will disregard the one and respect the other; or he will be devoted to one and despise the other."

And again, "You can't dedicate your life to both God and to getting rich."

And, "Don't agonise about what you're going to eat and drink, or about clothes for your body. You're worth more than the birds of the sky, are you not? Look at them - they don't plant, or harvest or gather crops into barns. And yet God feeds them."

Jesus said, "Can anyone add even an hour to his life by agonising about it? So why worry about clothes, of all things! The wild flowers grow - yet they don't card wool or make their own clothes. I'm telling you, even Solomon at his most glorious didn't look as good as they do. If God clothes the grass in a field, which is here today and gone tomorrow, won't he do the same for you? How little trust you have!"
