They tied him up and led him away and turned him over to Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.

He had Jesus flogged and then gave him over to be crucified.

The soldiers crucified him. They stuck a notice up above his head to identify his crime and which said, "This is Jesus, the king of the Judeans" .
