The Good News According to Matthew: Chapter Twenty One

21.10
As Jesus was entering Jerusalem, the whole city got nervous. They asked, "Who is this person?" The crowds said, "This is the prophet Jesus, who comes from Nazareth in Galilee."

21.12-13
Jesus went into the Temple and chased out all the vendors and shoppers who were there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those who sold pigeons. Then he said to them, "It's written, 'My house should be a house of prayer,' but you're turning into 'a den of thieves'."

21.28-31
Jesus said, "Now, what's your considered opinion? There was once a man who had two sons. He went to the elder and said, 'Son, go and work in the vineyard today.' 'I don't want to,' the son answered. But he later changed his mind and went.

"Then the father went to the second son and said the same thing. 'Yes, sir,' he answered, but he didn't go.

"Which one of the two did what his father wanted? 'The elder son,' they answered."

So Jesus said to them, "I'm telling you, tax collectors and the prostitutes will go into the kingdom of God ahead of you."

21.33-39
Jesus said, "There was once a landowner who '... planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug a hole for the wine press, and built a watchtower'. Then he hired out the vineyard to some tenants and went away.

"When the time came to harvest the grapes, he sent his slaves to the tenants to get his share of the crop. The tenants grabbed his slaves, beat one up, killed one, and stoned one.

"Again the landowner sent other slaves, more than the first time, and the tenants treated them the same way.

"Finally, he sent his son to them. 'They will respect my son,' he said. When the tenants recognised him, they said to themselves, 'This is the landowner's son. Come on, let's kill him, and we'll inherit his property!' So they grabbed him, hauled him out of the vineyard, and murdered him."
