The Good News According to Matthew: Chapter Fifteen

15.1-2; 10-11
Some Pharisees and scholars of the Law came from Jerusalem and said to Jesus, "Why do your followers avoid the tradition of the elders? They don't wash their hands before they eat bread." Jesus said to everyone: "Listen and understand. It's not what goes into a person's mouth that results in ritual defilement. A person is defiled by what comes out of his mouth."

15.16-17
Jesus said, "You are no cleverer than anyone else. Don't you understand that everything which goes into a person's mouth passes into his stomach and then out into the toilet?"

15.21-22; 25-27
Jesus was once in the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite women from around there appealed to him, "Have pity on me Sir, my daughter is possessed. Please help me."

Jesus responded, "It's not fair to take food out of Hebrew mouths and give it to the dogs."

She said, "Fair enough, Sir, but the dogs usually eat the crumbs that fall from the master's table!"
