The Good News According to Matthew:
Chapter Ten
10.5, 10, 13
Jesus sent out [the Twelve*], giving them the following instructions:
"Don't take a bag for your journey, or a spare
shirt, or even sandals or a walking stick. If a household welcomes you,
leave a blessing of peace with them."
10.16
Jesus said: "Be as astute as a snake and yet as trustworthy as a dove."
10.29-31
Jesus said, "Isn't it a fact that two sparrows sell for only a cent? And yet not even
one of them falls to the ground without your Father's consent. In your
case, the very hairs on your head have been counted. So don't get
over-anxious. You're worth more than a whole flock of sparrows."
10.39
Jesus said, "The person who lives for himself will lose life; but whoever lets go
of his life for my cause will gain life."
