The Good News According to Mark:
Chapter Three

3.20-23; 27
Another time when he was at home, a crowd gathered. He and
the others weren't even able to have a meal. His relatives heard about all this and came to get him because they thought he was out of his mind.

Some scholars had also come all the way from Jerusalem. They said that Jesus was under the control of Beelzebul, the Chief Demon, and that he was driving out demons in Beelzebul's name.

He replied: "How is it possible for Satan to drive out Satan? If a nation is divided against itself it isn't possible for it to last. Similarly, if a family is divided it won't survive. So if Satan rebels against himself, he's had it and won't survive either.

"It's not possible to break into a powerful man's house and rob him unless one first ties him up. Only then can the house be plundered."

3.31-34
Once when his mother and brothers arrived, they sent for him (while they where still outside). The crowd which surrounded him said to him, "See here, your mother and your brothers and sisters are outside asking for you."

He responded, "Who really are my mother and brothers?"

Surveying the crowd around him, he said, "See! Here are my mother and my brothers. Whoever does things God's way is my brother and my sister and my mother!"
