The Good News According to Luke
Chapter Eight

8.1-3
Jesus travelled through towns and villages announcing the good news about how God does things. His close friends were with him as well as some women whom he had cured of disease and evil spirits - including Mary from Magdala, Joanna the wife of Chuza (who was Herod's butler), Susanna, and some others. They helped support them out of their resources.

8.5-8
Jesus used to teach people in this way: "There was once a man who went out to sow seed. As he scattered it, some fell along the pathway. It was trampled underfoot and the birds swooped down and ate it. Some fell on rocky ground. When it germinated, it shriveled up because it had no moisture. Some fell among thorns, which grew up and choked it. And some fell on fertile soil. When it germinated, it yielded a hundredfold."

Jesus would say, "Anyone with good hearing had better listen!"

8.16-17
Jesus said, "Nobody who has just lit a lamp puts it under a bowl or under the bed. In fact, he puts it on a lamp stand so that anyone who comes in can see the light."

"For nothing which has been hidden won't be brought to light, and nothing which has been concealed won't be exposed."

8.18
Jesus said, "Notice that those who have a lot will be given even more. And those who have almost nothing will have even that taken away from them."

8.19-21
Now Jesus' mother and brothers once came to see him. They couldn't reach him because of the crowd. Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers want to see you."

He responded, "My mother and brothers are those who hear what God says and then do it."

8.43
Once a woman who had suffered vaginal bleeding for twelve years and who had found nobody who could heal her, came up behind him. She touched the hem of his cloak and the flow of blood stopped immediately.
