The Good News According to Luke
Chapter Four

4.1-2
Filled with a spirit of holiness, Jesus left the Jordan River and was inspired to go into the wastelands, where he fasted until he was starving.

4.14-15
Jesus came back to Galilee in the power of the spirit. News about him spread all over the region. He taught in their synagogues and was popular with everyone.

4.24
[In Nazareth] Jesus said, "I'm telling you, no prophet is ever approved of on his home ground."

4.31-32, 37
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee, where he taught people on the Sabbath. Because his words were so powerful they were much taken by his teachings. His reputation spread all over the surrounding region.

4.38-39
Simon's mother-in-law was sick with a high fever. They appealed to Jesus for her. He leaned over her and rebuked the fever. It left her and she got up at once and got on with caring for them.
