The Good News According to Luke
Chapter Eleven

11.2-4
Jesus said, "When you pray, say:

Father, may your name be kept holy;
May everything be done your way;
Provide us day-by-day with what we need to live;
Release us from our sins
To the same extent we release those in debt to us.
And may we not be too severely tested.

11.5-8
Jesus said, "Suppose somebody had a friend and went to him in the middle of the night and asked him, 'Lend me three loaves of bread. Another friend of mine has just come to my place on a journey and I have nothing to feed him with.' And suppose the first friend calls out, 'Stop bothering me. I've locked the door and the kids are in bed with me. I can't get up to give you anything.' I tell you this: even though he won't get up and give you anything for friendship's sake, he will get up and give you everything you need just because you keep on bothering him.

11.9-10
Jesus said, "So I tell you, ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you. Everyone who asks, gets; and everyone who seeks, finds; and for the one who knocks it is opened."

11.14-22
Once Jesus was driving out a demon which had made a man mute. When the demon left him, the man spoke. Some people said, "He drives the demons out with the help of the chief of the demons, Beelzebul." Others put him to the test by demanding a sign from God.

But Jesus guessed what they were thinking, and said to them, "Every nation at odds with itself will be destroyed. A household which is split can't survive. You say I cast demons out through Beelzebub. But if Satan is divided against himself how can his territory survive? If I cast out demons through Beelzebub, through whom does your lot drive them out? Your own people will judge you. For if I drive demons out on behalf of God, then without a doubt God's rule has arrived."

11.21-22
Jesus said, "A strong man's possessions are safe as long as he stays fully armed and guards his patch. But when attacked and overpowered by a stronger man, his weapons are confiscated and his belongings divided up."

11.23
Jesus said, "Whoever isn't with me is against me, and the person who doesn't join with me actually divides."

11.33
Jesus said, "Nobody ever lights a lamp and then puts it in the basement or under a basket. It's put on a lamp stand so that those who come in can see it."

11.43, 52
Jesus said, "I pity you, Pharisees! You love the best seats in church and being greeted in the shops."
