The Good News According to Luke
Chapter Ten

10.4-6, 8
Jesus said, "Don't carry a bag, or a rucksack and don't take sandals. And don't spend time gossiping on the road. When you go into a house, say "Peace on this house". Stay only at that one house, and eat and drink whatever they give you. Whenever you go into a town where you are welcome, eat whatever is placed in front of you."

10.30-35
Jesus once said, "There was a man who was going down to Jericho from Jerusalem. He came upon a gang of muggers who stripped him naked, beat him up and escaped leaving him nearly dead.

"Luckily a certain priest came along that road. When he saw the man he went past on the other side. Similarly, a Levite came along. When he saw the man he also crossed the road to avoid him. But this Samaritan who was travelling the same route came across him and felt really sorry for him. So he went up to him and bandaged up his wounds, dressing them with olive oil and wine. He then pulled him up onto his own animal, carried him to a hotel and looked after him. The next day he took two silver coins and gave them to the manager, saying, 'Look after him, and on my way back I'll reimburse you for any extra expenses you've had.'"
