The Good News According to John:
Chapter Twelve
12.1-5
Jesus came to Bethany. There they held a dinner for him. A woman
brought a certain amount of spikenard in. She massaged Jesus' feet with
it, and then wiped them clean with her hair.
Some said, "Why wasn't this ointment sold? It could
have brought in three hundred denarii, which could have been given to the
poor."
12.24-25
Jesus said: "I say to you emphatically, if a grain of wheat
doesn't germinate when it falls to the ground, it stays a seed. But if it
does germinate, it produces a good crop. Those who hang onto their lives
lose life itself; and those who give up their lives will experience life
to the full."
