Solihull Amateur Radio Society

The Society supports and encourages all aspects of Amateur Radio. Whilst the membership is largely made up of licenced Radio Amateurs from the Solihull area, all are welcome. Short-wave listeners, aspiring transmitting-amateurs and anyone with an interest in the technology of radio communication are especially invited to come along.

Meetings are normally held at The Shirley Centre, 274 Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull on the third Thursday evening each month and these generally comprises a short presentation and discussion on some facet of radio communication, after which drinks are available.

These pictures were taken at the 2009 AGM and show two vintage receivers being powered-up prior to the annual surplus sale.

Interests range from old-time equipment to modern technology including satellite-communication and weak-signal propagation reporting. Click here for Phil's Blog on this topic.

The Society is equipped to transmit on the amateur short-wave and VHF bands and periodically operates at special events using the club call-sign G3GEI.
