30 Oct 07: BHS Essex Annual Meeting The annual meeting took place at The Rose and Crown in Writtle. There was a good turn out. After the formal business, Phil Wadey, BHS Regional Access Officer for the East of England, made two presentations:
Carole Taylor has been consistently helpful to achieving bridleways on the definitive map.
She has made seven applications for bridleways, one of which resulted in a network of 4 routes.
She is often called by the County Council to give evidnece in support of bridleway status.
Her local knowledge is inexhaustible, and her research for historical information, unstoppable.
Carole is consistently helpful. Carole is one of the 'Good Guys'.
For the last 18 years, Katy Haines has been working nonstop, tirelessly and expertly for Essex County Council,
creating over 40 off road routes that horse riders and others can enjoy. We were appalled that Katy's
job to create bridleways was stopped by the Council earlier this year, but heartened that Katy is now
working on the Mardyke Way for Thames Chase.
Paths created include one here in Writtle and some with some great names, like the Nags Head Lane
bridleway in Brentwood and the Dog and Partridge bridleway in Great Leighs.
For exceptional achievement over many years we're proud to present Katy with this,
not special but exceptional achievement award.
