Sulindac NSAIDs

Trade name products which contain sulindac include: (Clinoril) (Novo-Sundac) (Apo-Sulin)

INDICATION

A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) used for the treatment of arthritis and inflammatory conditions.

SIDE EFFECTS

Increased bleeding time, anaemia, dizziness, headache, nervousness, visual disturbances, ringing in the ears, nausea, vomiting, ulcers, abdominal distress,swelling, itching, rash, and elevated liver enzymes.

INTERACTIONS and PRECAUTIONS

  1. Do not use in combination with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories.
  2. Use with aspirin or alcohol can increase risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.
  3. Use with ACE inhibitors (captopril, enalapril, lisinopril) may decrease ACE inhibitor effect.
  4. Use with anticoagulants (Warfarin) may promote bleeding.
  5. Use with beta-blockers (propranolol, labetalol, metoprolol, carteolol) can decrease their antihypertensive effect.
  6. Use with cephalosporin class antibiotics could promote bleeding.

USUAL DOSE

Adults: oral, 150-200 mg two times a day.
