Fenoprofen Calcium NSAIDs

(BRITISH) UK Trade name products: (Fenopron) (Progesic) (AMERICAN) US Trade name products which contain fenoprofen include: (Nalfon) (Nalfon 200)

INDICATION

A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication used to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation.

SIDE EFFECTS

Increased bleeding, anaemia, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, swelling, GI distress, nausea, vomiting, ulcers, anorexia, constipation, kidney failure, rash, and itching.

INTERACTIONS and PRECAUTIONS

  1. Aspirin decreases the effects of Fenoprofen.
  2. Oral anticoagulants (Warfarin) and sulphonylureas may have altered effects (increased bleeding).
  3. Use with ACE inhibitors (captopril, enalapril, lisinopril) can decrease ACE inhibitor effect.
  4. Use with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories is not recommended.
  5. Use with aspirin or alcohol can promote stomach ulcers or bleeding.
  6. Use with beta-blockers (propranolol, metoprolol, labetalol, carteolol) can decrease their antihypertensive effect.
  7. Use with diuretics may decrease their diuretic effect.

USUAL DOSE

Adults: oral, 300-600 mg three or four times a day as needed.

Paediatrics: dosage not established.
