Start with a square of paper. Fold diagonally and open out again.
Turn the paper over. Fold the paper in half right-to-left then open out again. Fold the top half of the paper down to the bottom. (Press 'Refresh' or 'Reload' on your browser to view the animation again)
(Press 'Refresh' or 'Reload' on your browser to view the animation again) Hold the two top corners in each hand. Move your hands down and towards each other. This will bring the two bottom corners together. You will end up holding some thing that looks a bit like the flight feathers from an arrow or a dart.

This is the finished preliminary base. It has a closed end at the top, and an open end at the bottom.
