The WOL user guide to the forums

how to get the best out of the forums

If the WOL forums are down, visit HERE for the latest news

Welcome to the User guide

When people first visit the forums, they usually ask two questions:

Why are there so many old messages? and

How do I find my way back to a message I've posted?

To get the best out of the forums, you need to know how to use Message Centre. There, you can find out how to subscribe to any discussions you want to read and perhaps post to. This also helps you in finding messages again, although your browser history tab is also excellent for that and you'll also find out how to set your preferences, which, among other things, will allow other folk to see your email address.

Once you've worked out how to see all the messages you want, you can find out how the forums are organised, itself something of a black art, then learn how to navigate through the various layers of WOL.

Finally, there are sections on clever things like putting images into your postings (which make you seem really smart!), changing the colour and size of the text you post and then a whole heap of stuff on shortcuts like Emoticons and acronyms, changing your second line, and a whole page on really useful links.

There's also a whole section on Armadillo - some say this is the best part of WOL!

If there's anything you still need to know, visit the FAQ page!

Every page has the navigation buttons down the side, so you can always return to here if you get lost. Hope this helps and - have fun!

If the WOL forums are down for any reason, then visit the Which?OnLine monitoring forums for up to date information.
