Anne: A broad base of business experience

Currently Anne works as a Director of Next Chapter Ltd from her home near Guildford in Surrey. It is a company she formed with another Head in 1996. It supports those who work in education by providing careers advice, project management, selection and outplacement. Anne said "when teachers have been bashed so hard by both Conservative and Labour governments, we really wanted to show them that we cared. We ran our first residential programme in St George's House, Windsor Castle, and it was wonderful to see how rejuvenated the participants were - not least because they felt valued by the venue." (For further information see also reference under 'articles' 'Heads call for a new voice' - The Times,12.6.98).

During the 1980s, when her children were young, she formed and ran her own Independent Training Consultancy. Clients were from the professions and many were large city-based organisations. She ran training sessions on public speaking, organisational development, marketing skills and people management in several countries. She worked for several organisations in the City of London including Bank of America, Schroders, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell and HSBC.

Before that she was Head of Training & Development for J P Morgan and Training Adviser for the The Industrial Society. She was also a Training Officer for the pharmaceutical company, G D Searle & Co Ltd. Her first employer was Unilever Ltd where she was an Information Officer.

Anne is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.
