The more perceptive amongst you will have noticed that some of the places we've visited so far (Boston, Cape Cod) are in fact in Massachusetts. Well done. However, the travelling proper, with trailer, didn't start until we went up into New Hampshire, so that's where the state-by-state descriptions begin. That's my excuse anyway; I'm not about to start restructuring the site at this stage.

Saturday 14 October 2000

Four hour drive back to our original site in Bellingham, where we were allocated a back-in site this time as the campsite was full; very small, and amongst the trees. However, I was talked into it by the site owner who seems to spend most of his day doing this, and we made it without incident. Temperatures were in the high 70s, an enormous and welcome difference from the previous fortnight.

Got a bed liner and cap fitted to the truck, giving us a lot more usable storage space and transforming the appearance somewhat. The cap should have been colour matched, but they still hadn't been able to get one from the manufacturer in Canada in the month since we ordered it despite promising 2-3 week lead time, so we had a black one instead ...

Dinner in posh restaurant with Geoff, Liz, Lizzie and Michael to thank them for their hospitality and to celebrate Geoff's new job, then visited Hilary (Ron was in Canada getting his green card renewed - apparently Toronto was the easiest place to do it) and chatted until 12.30am.

Sunday 15 October 2000

Drove over to Wayland to pick up our post from Geoff and Liz's as they'd forgotten to bring it along last night. Various registration and insurance papers for the pickup, breakdown cover confirmation, and a free gift of a drinks cooler and some cookies from the trailer dealer. Booked campsite in Maryland between Baltimore and Washington DC to follow on from the one in New York. Bought yet more stuff from WalMart; dinner with Hilary in Chillis, a chain restaurant specialising in Mexican-style food, and very good indeed.

Tomorrow we're off to the Big Apple.
