You have reached Rose-Mary Gower’s web page. Welcome to my world.

I am married with three adult daughters, and an adopted 13year old son who has Down’s Syndrome. I home educate my son. (See John-Paul Gower’s Web Page)

We own a 17th Century farmhouse and three-acre field, near Mold in North Wales. The latter became the focus of media attention when an Irish couple on a walking tour of North Wales stopped to rest at our field gate. They claim to have seen a vision of the Virgin Mary and been cured of their ailments, namely his frozen shoulder and her cataract.

By June1997 our quiet country lane began to resemble Lourdes. Many people came looking for a cure. Sadly some were dying of cancer. Lesser ailments like frozen shoulders, psoriasis, verrucas and palpitations have responded positively to our field’s curative vibes. However I have not heard of anyone being cured of cancer.

There have been at least two more visions of the Virgin Mary.

A lovely couple came from Belfast to pray for peace in that strife torn land, coincidence or not, a few days later the second IRA cease fire was declared!

Photos of the barn in the field have occasionally shown ghost like images that were not apparent when the photographs were taken. One particularly striking one shows a figure with long hair, eyes slightly out of alignment, wearing a white shirt with well-defined collar. I have also captured what looks to me like an angel with a figure standing behind it. A photo taken in early 1998 shows a group of ethereal faces, the more you look, the more you look the more you see.

My 13year old Down’s Syndrome son, John-Paul, had his own strange encounter in January 1998. He was in the kitchen looking out towards the barn, his hand half raised as if he was about to wave. When asked what he was doing he explained that there was a ghost of a “Blue Lady” by the barn door waving to him. As he is not an imaginative boy I think he saw something. A few days later I found a stone by the barn with a bluish tinge like a headdress. The face beneath was wizened and looked rather like the late Mother Teresa. When my son saw the stone he said “That is my Blue Lady.”

The strange events have not been confined to the field but have manifested themselves in our house. A ghostly monk has been seen, once by my daughter Adrienne and three times myself. John-Paul says that he sees him quite often. The monk is almost like one of the family now. We have called him Brother Adolphus (Brother Dolly for short). We often hear ghostly footsteps walking the landing and staircase at night. The bedroom door latches are lifted as if someone is about to enter but thinks better of it.

At the beginning of September 1998 I spied an oil spill on our drive in the shape of an aeroplane. It had three splodges in a line under the tail plane. As it looked interesting I photographed it. The very next day we heard of the terrible air tragedy off Nova Scotia. The flight was Swissair 111. I took another photo on the day of the disaster, it was the only photo of the whole film, which was underexposed, and it looked like a plane under water!

In October 1998 a stain in the shape of a cross materialised over the mantelpiece in our sitting room. In January 1999 stains in the form of handwriting have appeared on the walls of the sitting room. The words are in Welsh and are as follows:

The words GWEDDI and PADERAU materialised before our eyes, one minute nothing was visible, the next minute these words were there! When the word CANNWYLL was photographed the word MYNACH-MONK appeared on the photo but not on the wall! We do not speak Welsh and had to invest in a Welsh Dictionary!

Whatever the source of our bizarre occurrences it appears to be benign and our house has a friendly atmosphere. The field continues to be a place of healing both physical and emotional.

Although the phenomena surrounding our home and property is very strange I feel that there may be a very natural explanation for it all. Possibly in the next century we may be able to explain what is inexplicable today.
