Personal Interests

Electronics
Having had an interest in firstly Radio and then Electronics since my sixth form days I have continued to develop my hobbyist interest until in the mid 70's I put together my first one-board microcomputer (Nascom 1) leading to my main interest in microcomputers today.
Computer Hardware and Software
Following on from the Nascom 1, I acquired a Tandy Model I followed by a Tandy Model III (from my friend Dave Law) which further wetted my appetite for microcomputers. There followed the superb Tandy 100 one of the first laptop computers which were so popular with journalists of the day.
I then obtained a Dragon 32 succeeded by a Dragon 64 Colour microcomputer and then my first IBM PC compatible machine, a Tandy 1000 (buying the first machine available in the UK), although the compatibility was far less then 100%.
Since then I have acquired IBM Compatible 286, 386, 486 and Pentium II machines. I also have a Rock 386 Portable machine. I have retained all of these computers except, regretfully, the Dragon 64 and the Tandy Model 1, the remaining form the core of my microcomputer 'museum'.
My current computer is a Vale Platinum Pentium III 600MHz, 30Gb 128K RAM with a Yamaha sound system, a Matrox Millenium G400 Dual-head graphics card, a Matshita SR-8585DVD drive, a HP 970Cxi printer, a US Robotics 56K Professional Message Modem, an Onstream 30Gb ADR backup drive, a Hewlett-Packard 5300C flat-bed scanner and a Hewlett Packard Surestore CD-Writer 7100E.
Recent additions include a Kodak USB Flash card reader for use with a Kodak DC3800 Digital Camera. Associated with the above system is a DV500 Digital Video capture card with Adobe Premiere v6 software for digital video editing in conjunction with a Sony DCR-TRV120 Camcorder.

Hill Walking
I have been an avid walker since my mountaineering days at Liverpool University in the 60's when I enjoyed rock-climbing. Age has taken its toll since then and I now limit myself to gentler slopes these days.

Music
I have a comprehensive taste in music ranging from the popular music of the 60's 70's and 80's, through jazz and including classical music. I vividly recall going to my first real concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall when Dave Brubeck came to perform in the early 60's. I particularly enjoyed the Organ Recitals in St Georges Hall in Liverpool and recently have been to concerts at the NEC given by Eurythmics, Sade and Sting.
