Over the years the side has steered a middle course (yawn) between concentrating solely on one tradition on the one hand, and just picking the choicest dances from every tradition on the other hand. We believe that dancers need variety to keep them on their toes, so to speak, but that the distinguishing characteristics of the traditions become blurred if too many are attempted at once. In the past we usually danced between two and four traditions at any one time, changing about half of them each year.
Recently we have tended to abandon this practice so we could keep some of the better dances from more traditions (the ones which people dance anyway, whether or not they are on the repertoire).
For 2003/4, however, we will be concentrating on Fieldtown and Headington.
