On the afternoon of the Saturday after May Day we often dance
the Horsforth Mile, a traditional bridegroom's stag night excursion covering
one and a half miles and visiting 9 or 10 pubs. We dance the mile and a half
in procession and put on a show at each pub. In 2000 we performed 50 different
dances (for a list click here) to mark our 50th anniversary
and collected over £1000 for Wheatfields Hospice in the process.
We plan to dance the Horsforth Mile again on 7th May 2005, this time doing it backwards (ie, uphill) and only doing 6 shows, due to old age! The programme is (probably):
| 11.30 am | The Fleece | ![]() |
| 12.15 pm | The Old Kings Arms | |
| 1.00 pm | Town Street Tavern | |
| 2.30 pm | Roos Court | |
| 3.15 pm | The Queens Arms | |
| 4.00 pm | The Fox and Hounds | |
