House

Grasmere is the northernmost village in the southern Lake District, set in a valley surrounded by hills. Wordsworth called Grasmere 'the loveliest spot that man hath ever found'. One of his homes, Dove Cottage, is open to visitors together with a museum.

There are many magnificent walks from 'Silver Fell' including probably one of the most popular Lakeland walks - a circuit of Grasmere Lake taking in Loughrigg Terrace with its spectacular fell and lake views. Alcock Tarn, Easedale Tarn, Rydal Water and Elterwater are all good walks from 'Silver Fell'.

Due to its central location in the Lake District, Grasmere is an ideal touring base. The village is ten minutes level walk from 'Silver Fell'. There are many shops selling gifts and outdoor clothing in addition to a general food store, newsagent, book shops, post office and a wide selection of hotels and restaurants.

There is a regular bus service between Kendal and Keswick. The nearest station is Windermere and local taxis are available.
