Writing competition - 2 - Entry B (Roger)

ENTRY B:

My favourite TV programme.

I am such an addict to the small screen I have been unable to write about any one programme as a favourite. Instead I chose to give a small account of several programmes I enjoy. Please judge it using the definition of “programme” as in “selection of items/agenda”

My evening “programme”

If I get home early enough there’s Time Team. This one is a good-natured documentary in which the crew of type-B people get a whiff of some esoteric find somewhere, go to someone’s perfect garden/estate, and in 3 days, digh three damned great trenches to prove how right they are. Still, its quite educational.

Then there’s The Bill. This one I like. I find it absorbing material, realistic - but what a shame they don’t identify where the real speed cameras are. There’s all the buck-passing around the otherwise knitted crew - reminiscent of my own unrelated (but similarly under-resourced lot at work). And there’s young Polly Paige - had a crush there for a while some years ago.

No sooner is the Bill all billed away than we run into The Equaliser. This one is good too. A bit far-fetched, but the jag/Daimler is a wonderful chariot for his fire. Reminds me of Callan - which was very good. Haunting theme tune to Callan - contrasts well with the Copeland up-beat to the Equaliser.

I think I need to get a life... between TV and Dillo I go to work and doze. Oh well...
