EXPEDITION TO MOROCCO

During July 1998 a team of local teenagers, aged between 15 and 17 from the Robert Smyth School are flying out to Morocco for four weeks. The expedition has been arranged by an organisation called World Challenge but, in the main, the team members are in charge of when, where and how they get around the country.

Whilst travelling around Morocco we will be involved in project work helping people who are less fortunate than ourselves. We have plans to paint a new school. A number of us are also hoping to achieve the expedition part of our Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. I believe this expedition is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will enable us to see and experience different cultures. It will also teach many valuable skills such as being a good team-leader and member. There is, of course, a fee for this invaluable experience - £1,650 each! We hope to raise this money mainly by fund-raising, both as a team and individually.

I hope to keep you updated with news and our progress through the Kibworth Chronicle. Please keep an eye out for forthcoming fund-raising events around the village and come and support us! Thank you.
