OF THE YEAR
This year's Village Newsletter competition organised by The Countryman magazine and ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) attracted a larger entry than last year (upwards to 180) and a much higher standard of publication. The awards were presented at The Countryman's Burford offices in the heart of the Cotswolds. Editors represented Village Matters (Suffolk), the Benson Bulletin (Oxon), Goring Gap News (Berkshire), the Shelfhanger Grape Vine (Norfolk) and Jura Jottings (Argyle). The Suffolk publication won the smaller circulation section but the award for the best of the rest went to your Kibworth and District Chronicle.
The adjudicators made special reference to the photographs, artwork, type style, variety of items covering all age groups, the regular coverage of all villages listed by our title - and the offer of chocolate biscuits to lay-up helpers!
I have always been convinced of the massive practical support from the whole Chronicle team, including every contributor, advertiser, distributor and the whole production and administration team, from typists to printers. However, this award proves how real this teamwork is. Thank you.
