LINES FROM LAUGHTON 2

If you ever offered to do something on a temporary basis and then found yourself doing it for longer than expected please spare a thought for Mrs Sophie Drage of Laughton. She once offered to go on the flower arranging rota at St Luke's Church on a temporary basis only and has finally given it up - 68 years later!!

"I didn't anticipate doing the flower arranging for 68 years, but then life never turns out as you expect it to!" said Sophie last month.

In view of this long standing dedication, it was decided to mark the occasion by presenting Sophie with a Coalport posy bowl and a print of a watercolour by a local artist of Sophie's garden. A card was also signed by every family in the village.

Mrs Rosemary Spoor, who together with Mrs Annie Walker, arranged the presentation on behalf of the Laughton PCC said, "We are so grateful to Sophie for all her hard work and we couldn't let 68 years pass without recognition."
