The governors of Kibworth Primary School are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Susan de Gaye to the post of Headteacher. The governors are looking forward to working with her when she takes up her appointment after the Easter holidays next year. Mrs de Gaye is married to Gilbert, the former Head of Languages at Manor High School, Oadby. The couple have three sons, Pierre 16, Jean-Paul 15 and Andrew 12. Mrs de Gaye graduated from Leicester University with a degree in classics and completed here training with a P.G.C.E. year also at Leicester University. Her career began at Oadby Launde Primary School where she taught for 10 years. After a break to have her family, she taught at St Joseph's R.C. Primary and then moved to Woodland Grange Primary at Deputy Head in 1991.
The governors wish Mrs Jenny Poole, the present Head teacher, good luck in her new job and thank her for all the work done over the last five years.
Two well known teachers in Kibworth make a move at the end of this term - Mrs Jenny Poole, head of the village Primary School, leaves to take up a headship in Cornwall (see above regarding her replacement). During her time in Kibworth government legislation has resulted in much change within primary education with resulting pressure on staff. However, she has not evaded making firm decisions and now feels it time to move to part of the country she knows very well - Cornwall.
Also leaving to work in an area he knows well is Roger Garratt - Head of Music at the High School, though his area remains Kibworth and surrounding villages, where he will be working as a self-employed music teacher offering home visits and tuition based on the Associated Board syllabus.
We wish Jenny and Roger well in 1997.
