POWER TO THE
PEOPLE!
Edward White from Smeeton Westerby is hoping that his new product will be a best seller in the Kibworth area. Working from a shared workshop in Fleckney, he has developed a portable mains power supply unit which is suitable for running small domestic appliances such as televisions and computers.
Edward has lived in Smeeton for most of his life, educated in Kibworth, Leicester and the University of Leeds. In July he graduated in Mechanical Engineering and has concentrated on building up a small business. The development of the portable power supply unit is his latest venture and it produces 240 volts from a 12 volt conventional car battery. His aim has been to construct a robust and safe unit suitable for use in the domestic environment. Edward considers safety to be a priority and with this is mind consulted the University of Leeds on various aspects of his design.
This compact, portable unit is simple to use and is ideal for camping and caravanning or any situation where a mains supply is not available. It would also be invaluable in the event of a power cut - a likely occurrence during the winter months!
Edward is currently building a number of these units. He would be pleased to give a demonstration and discuss the many benefits of his new product.
